Liquid Calories: The Good and the Bad

Liquid calories is a colloquial term that refers to any form of nutrition that is liquid that contains energy. One form of liquid calories that is worthy of discussion is the sort of drink that may be made using a blender. Such liquid calories usually take the form of what is referred to as a smoothie, but can also include the training drinks that are common with resistance training athletes. The main downside of such food is that they can supply a large amount of energy. In addition, because the energy is in a liquid form it tends to be absorbed quickly, which can increase the propensity for the energy to be stored as fat. However, on the positive side, such nutrition is an excellent way of obtaining a large number of nutrients from different foods, with the types of foods included limited by their ease of liquidising. Although the rapid absorption of the energy is a disadvantage to the sedentary individual, this becomes an advantage for those that wish to take in large amounts of energy after exhaustive exercise.
