Berry Tea: A Good Source of Antioxidants

Black and green tea have been extensively researched and shown to provide significant health benefits. In particular, black and green tea are a good source of antioxidants and these antioxidants are able to reduce the oxidative stress associated with free radical generation, and this is protective of a number of diseases. Berry tea is a decoction made from fruit berries and fruit berries are a rich source of antioxidants. It should come as no surprise therefore that berry tea is also rich in antioxidants. In particular, berry tea has been shown to be high in the anthocyanin type of flavonoids, and these have been shown to have important health benefits. As an alternative to black and green tea, berry tea is therefore recommended because the total antioxidant intake can remain high. In reality, all plants contain antioxidants, and any decoction made from plant material will be high in antioxidants. This means that a wide variety of teas are available to the consumer which can provide high intakes of antioxidants.
