The Benefits of Multivitamins on Mood

A multivitamin and mineral formula provides a range of vitamins and minerals to the consumer. Many studies have investigated the effects of multivitamin and mineral formulas and generally their benefits have been well evidenced. One possible benefit of taking a multivitamin and vitamin formula is that it may cause elevations in mood and benefits to mental health. Part of this relates to the minerals the formula contains and the benefits will vary depending on the mineral present. However, it has been shown that zinc, chromium, selenium, iron and magnesium all have beneficial effects on mood and mental health. In one study, researchers administered a multivitamin and mineral formula to a number of healthy subjects. The results of the study showed that administration of a multivitamin and mineral supplements was significantly beneficial at improving the mood of the subjects. In particular, the multivitamin and mineral formula was beneficial at decreasing anxiety levels and reducing perceived stress.

The multivitamin and mineral formula used in this study was Berocca. This formula contains vitamin B1, vitamin B2, niacin, vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin B12, biotin, pantothenic acid, vitamin C, magnesium and zinc. Both magnesium and zinc have been shown to improve mood and reduce anxiety and depression in research studies on humans with mood disorders.
