The Nutritional Basics

Many see nutrition as a complex topic that requires complexity to solve nutritional problems. The supplement industry feeds this complexity by providing a range of metabolically complex supplements that few really understand the effects of. However, when one steps back from this complexity a clearer picture of the overall solution to nutritional problems becomes evident. One common feature of those who seek nutritional solutions to problems is that they do not solve the basic foundational problems before trying to add the capstones to their supplemental regimens. Basic nutrition starts with healthy whole food and this should be in balance to provide the most nutrients achievable. Without this foundation, it is unlikely that supplemental regimens will be successful in the long term, and this is also likely the reason that many studies fail to find benefits for nutritional supplements. Starting simple and building towards complexity should be the goal of any nutritional strategies and without this approach failure likely awaits.
