Too Much Starch?

One of the main problems with most diets is that they contain too much starch. In fact, most Western foods are high in starch and contain to little protein. This results in individuals over consuming starch to the detriment of their health. To add insult to injury, the starch is often processed, and this is a serious health concern. High starch diets are problematic because they facilitate the overconsumption of energy, which can cause metabolic disturbance. In particular, overconsumption of starch leads to insulin resistance and weight gain, and this causes serious health effects that can be difficult to reverse. Healthy diets tend to have one common factor, and this is the fact that they are low in both sugar and refined starch. Eating a lower starch diet is difficult if an individual relies on others to prepare their food and so the best way to remove starch from the diet is to take responsibility for preparing food. This means that not only can the starch content be lowered, it also means that refined starch can be completely eliminated.
